Looking to save a little money at the hair salon? No problem! Just eat your greens! That’s right, leafy greens such as Spinach contain B-9, otherwise known as good old folic acid. Studies have shown that getting enough B-9 in your diet can prevent, and in some cases actually reverse, premature graying!
Too good to be true you think? Give it a try. I can’t promise it will take you from snow white to a deep, dark, raven haired beauty, but it can prolong the natural graying process.
Adult men and women should try to get at least 400 micrograms of folic acid per day. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables should help you achieve this easily. If you want a little more help, focus on avocados, orange juice, root vegetables, black-eyed peas, lentils and asparagus.
If you're not seeing results you desire, try adding some bananas, grapes, nuts and tomatoes to your diet. These foods are rich in Copper. Your body requires copper to produce pigment for your skin and hair. People who are deficient in copper were noted to have more gray hair in studies.
While poor nutrition can be a major culprit in premature graying there could be other conditions contributing to problem. Hypothyroidism for example has links to early graying. If this is a concern, be sure to consult your health care provider. In the meantime, go make yourself a super-nutrition charged salad or a glorious green smoothie to fight those grays!
